Hello friends old and new,
It's been a busy summer season, in spite of all of the gloom and doom about travel and the economy, and many of you have visited Inn at Riverbend for a getaway, celebration or just a "staycation"! We've enjoyed meeting many new faces and hope that you'll plan a return trip. Fall weekends are almost gone, so please book soon. Hokies, we still have rooms for the Duke game, so contact us if you need lodging for a good football game.
Our summer theme has focused on saving and being a bit greener. We purchased a hybrid car, a Prius, late in May and are enjoying a few less trips to the gas station. Taking Jackson for his run in the woods was nearing $10, so the hybrid has helped.
While our guests love our small waterfall, "buying" water from the city was beginning to bother us so our newly installed rain barrels really help gather mother nature in a great way. None of you have complained about the compact fluorescent light bulbs in your rooms. We found three way bulbs too and a variety with a good daylight color so that has been a good change.
So from more recycling, growing our own tomatoes, herbs and vegetables, and all of the other small things, we are beginning to do our part. Let us know if you have some great ideas that we can use here.
We hope you will visit this site often, check our special packages and plan a getaway soon. For those who are visiting for the first time, here's our story!
Inn at Riverbend is a dream come true for us! We invite you to experience this incredible setting by relaxing in front of the stone fireplace, reading in the hammock or watching the birds land on the small pond! After a restful night in one of our seven beautiful guest rooms, you'll awaken refreshed to the wonderful smells of fresh applewood bacon, banana sour cream pancakes and many other delectable items for breakfast. All rooms feature private baths, large closets, pressed sheets, and breathtaking views!
Designed, constructed and opened in the Spring of 2003, Inn at Riverbend offers spacious, wraparound decks and terraces, a platform in the sun, a hammock and adirondack chairs in the woods, and plenty of spaces to enjoy the panoramic views, bird watch and even spot a deer or two in the lower meadow! Train lovers can count the cars on the trains that pass along the tracks next to the river.
Located centrally between Blacksburg, home of VIrginia Tech, and Princeton, WV, let us help you plan your vacation with Inn at Riverbend at the center. From wineries, hiking, canoeing, fishing, enjoying the arts and history, there is much to do. It's the perfect setting to escape the rigors of work or to celebrate a special occasion! Bring your friends or family for a gather or a reunion! So think of a good reason to let us pamper you; check our availability online, and send us your requests.
