Looking for a fun and active location for a private group event – family reunion, birthday celebration or girls’ only time? Inn at Riverbend’s staff can help coordinate a memorable celebration. Our guest rooms, great room, terrace level den, expansive decks and unparalleled location offer an experience of a lifetime.
There are 7 individually appointed guest rooms here at the Inn and we can accommodate up to 18 people. Gather in our great room for a gourmet breakfast that includes a fruit & pastry course followed by a main entree! If you decide to do a sun rise hike, an early, to-go breakfast can be prepared. We can pack picnic lunches to go or lunch on the deck.
After breakfast enjoy your day doing one or many of the group activities below:
All ages can enjoy the scenery while you take a relaxing float down the New River by inter-tube with New River Junction in Blacksburg or New Rivers Edge in Pembroke
2) FISHING :
Virginia has some of the best small-mouth bass fishing rivers in the U.S. We also have “Big Lake” fishing at Claytor Lake State Park just 40 minutes from the Inn. With many locations on the New River Water Trail, and guided fishing tours with New River Outdoor or Tangent Outfitters, challenge each other to see who is the best fisherman of the group.

4) HIKING :There are many hiking destinations in/around Giles County. One of the most popular destinations is Cascade Falls in Pembroke VA which features a 66 foot waterfall and a swimming lagoon at the basin. Take the plunge! Looking to challenge the inner outdoors-man of the group? Hike the Appalachian Trail. The Inn is just minutes away from the AT and the beautiful views it has to offer.
Take a swing at the Pete Dye River Course of Virginia Tech in Radford, one of the most beautiful and challenging golf courses in the nation designed by renowned golf course architect Pete Dye. Looking for something more local? Visit Castle Rock Golf Course in Pembroke VA.
6) VINEYARDS :
Several wineries to visit include Giles Mountain Vineyard and Winery in Staffordsville, White Barrel in Christiansburg/Blacksburg, Chateau Morrisette in Floyd, or Villa Appalachia in Floyd. We can arrange a private guided tour for those 21 & up.
7) SPA SERVICES….for that relaxing, pampered renewal experience.
Enjoy a 45 minute Swedish massage in the privacy of your room or behind privacy screens on the deck! (Please request desired date and time. Subject to availability and 72 hours notice.)
8) VIRGINIA TECH CAMPUS :
We are located 20 minutes from Virginia Tech campus. Take a ride over and tour the campus, even make it a game to see who can get pictures with the most Hokie Bird Statues staggered around town in numerous locations!
9) ATV TRAILS:
Visit Kairos Wilderness Resort just 30 minutes from the Inn for off-roading fun. Kairos has 1,515 acres of beautiful wilderness in the two Virginia’s, nestled against the New River and stretching atop and over the Appalachian Mountains. Explore over 40 miles of trails on your ATV, UTV, or Dirt Bike. Don’t have your own ATV or fun ride, rent a Polaris RZR for the day!
10) NIGHT CAPS:
Gather in the den for a movie night after having dinner in at the Inn. Enjoy a glass of wine on the deck or hire car services for a night out without the responsibility of a designated driver.

Harvest Restaurant at Mountain Lake Lodge – 20 minute travel time
Gillies – 30 minute travel time

12) SUMMER HAPPENINGS:

3rd-4th is Blacksburg’s Steppin’ Out
Rather stay indoors at the Inn for the day or gather on the decks? We’ll help you plan a catered lunch or dinner for your family (dietary restrictions and requests can be accommodated with advance notice). We have games and puzzles as well, along with a WII gaming console to challenge one another.
