The Inn at Riverbend is the place to be in the summertime! From our balcony, watch paddlers rafting, floating, kayaking and fishing on the New River. Our B&B is located in Giles County; also known as Virginia’s Mountain Playground which has 37 miles of the New River running through it. Our Southwest Virginia location has endless outdoor fun. Located just 23 miles from Blacksburg and Virginia Tech University, and 31 miles from Christiansburg. Why don’t you make plans now for your summer adventure?
Summer Activities to do in the New River:
3. Kayak or Canoe
Enjoy a day outside on the river with kayak or canoe rentals and tours via New Rivers Edge or Tangent Outfitters.
Visit the Cascade Falls in Pembroke which features a 66 foot waterfall and a swimming lagoon at the basin. This four mile loop is a “must do” for everyone who loves the beauty of the New River Valley. Another popular bucket list item is hiking on the Appalachian Trail. The Inn at Riverbend is just minutes away from the AT and the beautiful views it has to offer.
We are located in the middle of the Appalachian Mountains, so if mountain biking is one of your passions, we have several long and beautiful trails for you to enjoy. One of our favorites is Pandapas Pond in Blacksburg; it is an all-around great place to get “outdoors” without driving far. This trail varies from easy and flat to steep up and down mountain terrain. Prefer to road or bike trail cycle? There are many routes available such as along Wolf Creek in Narrows or the Huckleberry Trail in Blacksburg.
6. Vineyards, Taste & Tours
Southwest Virginia wineries and breweries are impressive, with tasty varietals and friendly vintners. Giles County, home of the Inn, has it’s very own winery; Giles Mountain Vineyard & Winery. If you want to enjoy numerous wineries in one day we have set up “An Outing on the Vine Wine Tour”.
Take a swing at the Pete Dye River Course of Virginia Tech in Radford, one of the most beautiful and challenging golf courses in the nation designed by renowned golf course architect Pete Dye. Looking for something more local, visit the Castle Rock Golf Course in Pembroke VA.
