How NOT to Voluntarily Take a Pay-cut
How are you spending your vacation days; do you end up with unused vacation at year end? The Virginia Tourism Corporation is determined to decrease the Nationwide 662 million days of unused vacation time in 2017. As a result, the “CRUSH FRIDAY” campaign was born, with a goal of demonstrating the importance of utilizing ALL vacation days. Time away from the office boosts creativity and is beneficial to both physical and mental well-being; take a Friday off to breath in the fresh mountain air and forget about work for 24+ hours.
The Inn at Riverbend is a supporter of the campaign and strongly believes in relaxing, refueling and renewing oneself. Escape to the mountains and take full advantage of the natural setting and the diverse outdoor activities and adventures. Let us help you plan your outings to make your stay as stress free as possible! We can arrange a variety of river excursions such as:
Fishing guided tours with New River Outdoor or Tangent Outfitters. If a guided tour is not for you then venture out on your own and discover one of the several fishing locations along the New River Water Trail.
Hike to Cascade Falls, a 66 foot waterfall rated as one of the top 10 waterfalls in the country by CNN Travel and considered to be a “must do” for nature enthusiasts. The four mile loop is family friends with several photo and exploring opportunities. Refresh yourself with a swim in the lagoon at the basin of the waterfall before heading back down. The Appalachian Trail is another popular hiking trail that is minutes away from the Inn at Riverbend, offering stunning views.
Bike effortlessly along Wolf Creek in neighboring Narrows or the Huckleberry Trail in Blacksburg. If you’re more interested in mountain biking the near by Appalachian Mountains offer several long and beautiful trails with stunning views. Pandapas Pond is one of our favorite spots to bike as it offers a variety of trail options from flat to steep mountain terrain.
Want to do it all? Add our “HIKE, BIKE & PADDLE” package to your room reservation and we will take care of all the plans, arrangements and fees.
Vineyards, Taste & Tours are perfect if you are looking for a little less outdoor adventure and a bit more relaxation. Southwest Virginia wineries and breweries are impressive and beautiful. Spend the afternoon at the local winery; Giles Mountain Vineyard & Winery or book our “An Outing on the Vine Wine Tour” package to visit numerous wineries in one day.
Take advantage of your vacation days and make a reservation to arrive at the Inn at Riverbend on any of the remaining Thursdays of this year, spending your Friday away from the office and be greeted with a complimentary bottle of Virginia wine. Relax, explore, put work out of mind and CRUSH your Friday!
