How to Enhance Your Company and Renew Your Staff

Looking for a welcoming location to inspire new ideas and create team unity among your company’s staff? Perhaps you want to reward your hard working team with a few days away from the office, while acknowledging their importance and encouraging their professional growth? Here are 3 reasons the Inn at Riverbend is the perfect place to host your next corporate retreat.

Corporate retreats have been proven to reduce stress, boost team unity and stimulate new ideas. According to Beth Buelow, founder of The Introvert Entrepreneur company, “retreats can be a fabulous way for entrepreneurs to pop the bubble they may find themselves in.” In addition, retreats have the ability to reveal employee’s hidden talents, encourage inter-department relationships and ultimately, prove to your staff that you are invested in their future and well-being. That being said, recognize and reward your staff for their loyalty, performance and dedication; take them on a company retreat that will benefit you, your company and your staff.

1. THE LOCATION

Nestled in the Appalachian Mountains the Inn at Riverbend is quiet, relaxing and has spectacular views. What more could you ask for when trying to brain storm, team build and then relax after a day of meetings? The Inn at Riverbend is open year round. Less hectic winter months can be prime time to schedule use of our great room for a retreat. The intimate vibe of the inn allows a ‘company take over’. Reserving all 7 guest rooms gives your team total privacy and the ability to roam the property and work where they feel the most inspired. Several meetings can be scheduled simultaneously whether on the deck(s), in a guest room, in either of the 2 common rooms, at our conference tables or lounging on one of our comfy couches and chairs.

The Inn at Riverbend sits on 14 acres, giving your staff the ability to work, play and team-build outdoors. In addition, if your company does rent the entire property we offer a 10% corporate discount!! Not looking to stay overnight? That’s okay! We rent out our common rooms for daily use. Your team can arrive in the morning and spend the day here brainstorming and working together in the serene environment.

2. AMENITIES

The Inn at Riverbend offers vast amenities for corporate retreats. On the business side of your retreat, the Inn at Riverbend has reliable internet that will keep you connected to each other and with staff members off site that are not able to attend. We can provide for no additional cost, a projector and screen that we will set up should this be beneficial to your meetings. We have easels, dry erase boards and other equipment as needed. There is free ample parking for all guests and an electric vehicle charging station.

After a long day of brainstorming, deliberating and team building your guest room is the perfect escape. Our lush beds dressed in Comfy Sheets and large whirlpool bathtubs enable ultimate relaxation; a great night’s rest and rejuvenation for the next day. Now, let’s talk food! With breakfast being the most important meal of the day we want to make sure your employees begin their day with a hearty meal to stimulate their mental power. A fresh, homemade breakfast is served every morning to guests staying overnight with us, including our own Riverbend Blend of freshly ground coffee ready an hour prior to breakfast. For corporate retreats utilizing our property for only a single day we provide fresh fruit, granola bars, coffee, and tea upon arrival to kick start your day with healthy brain fuel. ‘Food for thought’ is not just a figure of speech. We will also provide lunch which includes a seasonal salad, an assortment of sandwiches, fresh fruit and homemade cookies. In addition, we have complimentary coffee, tea, soft drinks, and fresh fruit available 24/7 for those early risers and late night workers.

3. TEAM BUILDING

Indoors, there are several team building opportunities and activities available. Our downstairs den is stocked with puzzles and board games; try to complete a puzzle as a team before the retreat is over or pair up to play board games to promote working collectively and a unified way of thinking. Outdoors, have some fun together with a nature scavenger hunt. Pair or team up, get the staff outside and search for objects such as a yellow leaf, spider web, feather, pine cone, something personal one would consider a treasure, something to describe someone on your team etc. and compare what you come back with!

Off property there are great team building opportunities as well. Take a group hike to the famous Cascade Falls which is only a short drive from the inn and is open all year long. While on the hike you play ‘trail BINGO’ and/or partake in a clean-up challenge. A clean-up challenge consists of staff members working in pairs or teams to collect trash and litter along the trail. This activity is beneficial to the environment, aesthetics of the tail and team work, plus whichever team has the most debris at the end of the hike wins! Prefer an indoor activity? Hop in the car and drive about 30 minutes to Blacksburg or Radford to participate in the new fad of an Escape Room! Escape Rooms are a great way to promote team work as they require cooperation, communication and trust to successfully complete.

The Inn at Riverbend is an ideal location for corporate retreats as it has the ability to provide both quiet, reflective space and a stimulating environment. For the well-being of both the company and staff members, venture off to a corporate retreat to relieve that lingering stress, reinforce employee relationships and improve creativity. Employees who have the ability to grow as a team are an investment that enhances both the employer and employee. Create that “team” which will return dividends for all. Our ample amenities, house prepared meals and a variety of team building activities provide the perfect setting. Our close proximity to off-site activities is yet another reason the Inn at Riverbend is perfect for your next corporate retreat!
