Our region offers guests so many activities. We have created a suggested list and will be happy to help customize your itinerary. Here are a few Virginia vacation ideas to help your planning. Let us know if we can help!!
For the super active
Day 1:
- Kayak/Canoe on the New River, or try Stand Up Paddle Boarding (one of the fastest growing new sports) – 2 ½ hrs.
- Lunch at Cascade Café
- Hike Cascade Falls (2 ½ hours) or Barney’s Wall
- Dinner at Papa’s Pizza and Subs
Day 2:
- Mountain bike on Potts Creek Trail (2 hrs)
- Lunch at Swinging Bridge Restaurant in Paint Bank
- Visit Tingler’s Mill behind the restaurant
- Hike to Hanging Rock Raptor Observatory (1 ½ hrs)
- Dinner at The Palisades Restaurant
Day 3:
- Golf at the Pete Dye Virginia Tech River Course (4 hrs)
- Hike Kelly Knob
- Dinner at Bad Apple
For the active
Day 1:
- Fish the New River for small mouth bass
- Hike Bald Knob or one of the other many hikes at Mountain Lake (2 ½ hours)
- Dinner at Papa’s Pizza and Subs
Day 2:
- Bike along the New River Trail (either bring your bike or rent at The Junction, Draper, VA
- Take a picnic lunch with you or have lunch at Draper Mercantile
- Go swimming at Claytor Lake State Park
- Dinner at The Palisades Restaurant
Day 3:
- A round of golf at Castle Rock Golf Course
- Hike up to Cascade Falls
- Dinner at Bluegrass BBQ
For those looking to relax
Day 1:
- Covered Bridges/Giles Historical Society
- Lunch at Cascade Café
- Hike Cascade Falls (2 ½ hours)
- Dinner at Harvest Restaurant
Day 2: Virginia Wine/Mead/Hard Apple Cider Tour
- All or part of our Winery/Meadery/Hard Apple Cider makers.
- Lunch: Talk to us about what your tour plans are and we can make suggestions
- Dinner at The Palisades Restaurant
Day 3: West Virginia Tour
- Beckly Exhibition Coal Mine preserved coal mine that travels 1500 feet beneath the hillsides of New River Park and offers daily tours)
- Tamarack (The Best of West Virginia – art, music and so much more)
- New River Gorge & New River Gorge Bridge
- Pipestem State Park (Take the aerial tramway down the gorge or climb the Bolar Lookout Tower)
